In need of some advice, please help!?

I am in high school and unfortunatly, the boy that I like thinks of me simply as the "smart one" and in a way that's true. The problem is, I AM intelligent and conservative, and guys typically don't talk to me unless they have a question about homework. I'm quiet and shy, and I am watching this particular boy get swarmed by the dippy popular girls. I have no idea what to do...he only talks to me when he has questions. And that stinks.
