Isn't it ridiculous for people to criticize the use of ebonics because it's not "proper English"?

It depends a lot on the context of the conversation in my opinion. If youre at home, speak the way you choose to speak. But at work or when engaging in just about any kind of a business conversation, it usually makes the person speaking like that seem ignorant, whether or not they actually are. Besides, its just plain annoying anytime I have to have a real conversation with someone who doesn't at least make an attempt to speak intelligent English.
